SANTIAM, Ore. (KOIN) — Three suspicious containers wrapped in duct tape found underneath a bridge on southbound I-5 were found to have small dead animals inside.

Oregon State Police went to the scene over the Santiam River around 12:20 p.m. Saturday after children playing in the area noticed them and told a caretaker, who called police.

The containers were all different sizes, so the Hazardous Device Technicians responded. They evaluated the packages, removed them and then X-rayed them.

Traffic was slowed down for about 15 minutes between mileposts 240 and 253.

It’s not known who put dead animals in duct tape-wrapped containers underneath an interstate bridge.
