PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a Division Street car crash blamed on Saturday evening sun blindness.

Portland police initially were unable to identify the victim,  described then as “an older adult male.” An autopsy was used to help determine his identity.

He now is being identified as Brian Francis Kenny, a 62-year-old with no known address.

The fatal collision happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, just as the sun was setting at the intersection of SE Division Street and 142nd Avenue. This sun glare is known to cause momentary “sun blindness.”

No arrests or citations have been issued by investigators. The Portland Police Bureau reports the case will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office “for consideration.”

This is the 12th traffic-related fatality in Portland in 2013, the bureau reports.
