A  Southwest Portland dog park reopened Friday after being closed last month when several dogs were diagnosed with a parasite.

Gabriel Park’s off-leash area was closed by the Portland Parks & Recreation Bureau and the State Veterinarian after multiple reports of dogs contracting giardia.

City officials said the temporary closure gave the parasite a chance to dissipate, as well as allow crews to clean up any remnants that may have been left behind.

The off-leash park is open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight.
