THE DALLES, Ore. (KOIN) — One man died and two passengers were hurt when the car they were in hit a guardrail while passing a truck along I-84 near The Dalles.
Around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, the three people were in a 1994 Oldsmobile headed west on I-84 near milepost 92, Oregon State Police investigators said. The driver tried to pass a commercial truck when it hit a guardrail several times and ended up along the shoulder.
The driver, 47-year-old Pablo Medino, died at the scene. The front seat passenger, Maria Medina, 70, was seriously hurt and airlifted to a Portland hospital. The rear-seat passenger, Seth Medina, was taken by ambulance to a medical center in The Dalles. The 16-year-old suffered minor injuries.
None of them were wearing seatbelts, investigators said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
