ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) — An 11-year-old girl died after she was hit by a car in the front yard of her Washington County house.
Late Thursday afternoon, the driver of a Toyota Prius hit a Jeep at 160th and Farmington and kept going, hitting the girl in the front yard of her house. The car continued and crashed into the house.
Hussein Nur saw the crash.
“I ran over there, saw the little girl lying on the ground. The guy didn’t get out of the car to see if the girl was OK,” he told KOIN 6 News.
Distraught family members screamed for help. A Good Samaritan stopped to perform CPR until emergency crews arrived.
The child was rushed to the hospital but died from her injuries. Earlier information said the girl was 9.
The driver was taken to the hospital for medical tests. Witnesses said he began swerving all over the road after he hit the Jeep and before he struck the girl.
Detectives said alcohol is not a factor in this crash.
A second car-pedestrian accident happened within minutes of this. An allegedly drunk driver jumped over the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian at 185th and Farmington, then tried to run away before witnesses stopped him.
