Deputies: Woman assaults 3 in escape from group home

An 18-year-old woman is facing assault charges after she reportedly assaulted two staff members at a Salem group home Wednesday afternoon, and then later attacked a nurse at Salem Hospital. Alice Jean Finch faces counts of fourth-degree assault, harassment and criminal mischief. Deputies also discovered that she was wanted on a no-bail juvenile warrant for harassment. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded the Partnership in Community Living home, located at 4241 Munkers St. SE, at about 3:45 p.m. On arrival, they were told that Finch had been involved in an altercation during which she assaulted two employees and then fled the facility. Less than one hour later, Finch was spotted by deputies on Lancaster Drive SE with a large plastic tie wrapped around her neck, rubber bands around her wrists, and she appeared to be struggling to breathe. She resisted when deputies attempted to remove the ties, and refused to speak to them. She was transported to Salem Hospital for a mental and physical evaluation, during which she allegedly assaulted a nurse. Following her release from the hospital she was booked into the Marion County Jail. She was expected to be arraigned Thursday. April 3, 2013. Marion County Jail.
